At Grand View Health System high quality care and compassion go hand-in-hand. Our providers are privileged to help people through some of the most difficult experiences they will ever face, and share in some of their greatest moments – welcoming a new baby, dealing successfully with a medical crisis, working to help someone heal and improve their quality of life.
On March 30, National Doctor’s Day, please join the Grand View Health System in recognizing these dedicated professionals. National Doctor’s Day is a designated day to recognize the contributions and dedication health care providers make in our community. It provides an opportunity for patients to show their appreciation to the providers who care for them and their loved ones.
“There are many reasons a person chooses to dedicate their life to medicine,” said Dr. Jeff Edwards, OB/GYN, Grand View Health System Chief of Staff. “Most of us like a challenge and truly want to help people. A provider and patient relationship is one of trust – as a patient you share confidential information and personal history to help us do a better job of diagnosing and treating your illness.”
In addition to providing excellent medical care, the providers at Grand View Health System contribute their time and talents to the community in many ways. They serve on local community agency board of directors, lead Boy Scout troops, coach Little League, serve in the armed forces, serve at their church, and volunteer their time at community events. According to Dr. Edwards, one of the rewards of practicing medicine in a small community is the opportunity to see your patients in your daily routine such as grocery shopping and attending local events. “I enjoy seeing my patients when I’m out socially, it’s another connection to the community.”
“Hard work, stress and sacrifice with years of study and training is what it takes to become a health care provider,” stated Carol Goffnett, Grand View Health System CEO. “Many must cope with the conflicting demands of work and family and endure long and unpredictable hours. We appreciate our medical staff and feel fortunate that practice and live in our community.”
When was the last time you said "thank you" to the provider who touched your life in a meaningful way; someone who cared for you or a loved one during a difficult illness or injury? There are several ways to express your thanks - Send a note of appreciation to your provider, e-mail Kelly.marczak@gvhs.org to send an acknowledgement, or take a minute to tell them in person next time you see them in line at the grocery store.
