“The Birth Place”
Grand View takes pregnancy, delivery, and infant care very seriously. Prenatal education classes are available at no cost to patients who plan to deliver their baby at the hospital. The Birth Place offers labor and delivery rooms and comfortable, bright postpartum rooms for new mothers. This is a special unit with locked doors to ensure infant safety.

Recliners are in the postpartum rooms so fathers can stay with the mothers. A family waiting room is conveniently located next to the nursery and patient rooms. Obstetrical services at Grand View Health System include:

• Antepartum testing (nonstress tests), biophysical profiles
• Amniocentesis and 3-D ultrasounds
• Hepatitis B vaccination of newborns prior to discharge
• RhoGAM injections
• Prostaglandin gel insertion
• Induction of labor
• Prenatal childbirth education
• Neonatal care
• Infant CPR classes

Pain Control Options:

• Intrathecal injections
• Epidurals
• Hydrotherapy
• Birthing ball
